Project History
The genesis of
Ether began between the big screen success of
The Lord of the Rings and the high ratings of Adult Swim, the adult oriented programming block on the Cartoon Network. Each demonstrated a demand in the entertainment market and both pointed to a concept that could capitalize on such demand. A project that would bring high concept fantasy to life at a low budget through innovative animation and classic storytelling.
So was born
Ether, an idea that grew into a 26 episode televison series centered on the character of
Mondsuul Amindas and his journey across a world cloaked in perpetual storm. At least that was the plan and toward it, seven hour-long episodes were written along with the
design work for the main characters. There was even an
animatic for a teaser trailer. However, with the first incarnation of the
Ether website, it was decided that these materials could only be made accessible to industry professionals and were not the best means to unveil
Ether to the public. This decision led to a change of tactics and production on a series of short films comprising Duel in Ether.
The current website is intended to entertain and act as a reference for those interested in backing
Ether as a financial or commercial entity. Over the next year,
Ether will be actively shopped through pitch meetings, conventions, and festivals. How this history ends is undecided, but the hope is that it will involve a production deal and be a happy one indeed...
